In today’s ever distracted, digital world, sharing the stories that shape us has never been more important. We’re a team of journalists, storytellers and producers, we know first hand the power of human stories.
They connect us, bring understanding and breathe new life into relationships across all generations. One Human exists to create and hold space so human stories can be recorded and shared.
Daniel Knight - Producer
I started my career in finance and seemed to excel at the people part, I loved learning about my clients and discovered a knack for connecting and building trust.
After 10 years I had a strong pull to explore my interest in strategic marketing through creative storytelling. So in 2013, together with Jane, we took a leap of faith and set out to build a top creative agency that focused on high end storytelling across Australia. Some of our clients included Bush Heritage Australia, Tourism WA, Bendigo Bank, World Wildlife Fund, University of WA and the Australian Research Council.
Fast forward to now, we’ve since moved on from our first business however we’ve never lost the passion for capturing and sharing authentic human stories.
Fiona Ligertwood - Producer
I began my career in the health care space which grew my appreciation and understanding of people, their pain, joy, wisdom, needs, wants, hopes, dreams and life experiences.
My experiences living and breathing these meaningful stories led me to a career path of coaching and consulting. Developing and supporting personal growth.
The greatest purpose of sharing our stories, I believe, is to share wisdom, foster connection and encourage growth
As a mother, a daughter & a granddaughter, it is these such stories that become a gift to be passed down from generation to generation… with the purpose of giving a sense of self understanding, personal values and intimate belonging.
Jane Kennedy - Journalist
Storytelling is my passion. I studied journalism and worked for the ABC before starting my own creative agency.
Over the past 15 years I have interviewed and told the stories of countless Australians, young, old, privileged, disadvantaged, people from all walks of life.
As humans, our stories allow us to share, learn, empathise, and connect. They have an incredible power to create bonds that transcend time and space. Through our stories, we find a common ground that reminds us of our shared humanity and the beauty of our collective experience and there is nothing more special than that.
The Process

We’ve created a carefully designed questionnaire to help you reflect and decide what to include in your life story video. This helps us get to know you and start shaping your Life Story Video.

We pair you with your own producer who will guide your through the life story process. We will get to know you and start identifying important stories.

This is a 60-minute video call to meet your producer, plan your filming day & discuss any questions or concerns you may have. We’ll go over your interview content and chat about we can make this a great experience for you.

This is a 4-hour session that includes a relaxed interview and a scene of your choice. This could be doing something you love, like gardening or surfing, some shots with your family, etc.

After the first draft delivery of your life story video, Should anything arise that you feel needs to be changed, this will be the time for that. We will also include photos/slides from your life.

Your Life Story Video is now ready to view & share with your loved ones. Your video will be delivered via USB and private video link. You can share your story privately or publicly. Or even arrange a family screening with a glass of bubbles! Whatever works for you.

Filming day takes about 4 hours. Your producer will come to your home (or we can arrange an offsite location) and film a relaxed sit down interview. We will also film what is called a B-roll scene, this is a scene of you doing something you love, a hobby or shots with you and your family.

Your story is yours and yours alone to tell. While some of our clients love the idea of sharing their life story publicly via email link or social media, others prefer to keep it within their family. We have highly secure password protected data systems to ensure your story and details remain private if that is what you wish.

We understand that being on camera can feel intimidating, this is totally normal! Rest assured, we’ve been doing this a long time, we have strategies to help you feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. Our experienced producers will guide you through the interview, offering supportive feedback and reassurance along the way to ensure you feel at ease. Remember, we believe in capturing authentic stories, and our goal is to showcase your genuine self.

Yes! Don’t worry we won’t make you tell the whole thing. Crafting a story is an art that goes beyond simply recounting events in a chronological order. It involves the delicate act of piecing together fragments to create intrigue and capture the essence of you!
The art lies in the construction, the weaving of fragments that leave an indelible mark on those who watch your life story and carry it in their hearts, your loved ones and generations to come.

Recording your parents life story can be a meaningful experience for both you and them. Start by expressing your genuine interest and curiosity about their life journey. Let them know how much you value their wisdom and experiences. Be patient and understanding. Ultimately, convey that their story is a precious gift for your family's legacy.

You have total control over what and how much of your story you share. This is your experience and we honour and respect that.
You also have final say over your video and what is included in the editing process.

This is completely normal and an expected response. We have drawn on our many years of experience in journalism, production and coaching to develop a refined process that helps you relax, open up and be yourself.
